Fire Resistance

ROCKWOOL stone wool tolerates temperatures of up to 1000°C and does not burn.

ROCKWOOL insulation is made from naturally fire resistant volcanic diabase (stone). Created using the same process that occurs at the heart of a volcano, ROCKWOOL stone wool tolerates temperatures of up to 1000°C and will not burn. Consequently it is superb at providing vital fire protection in buildings, helping keep people safe, as well as minimising damage to valuable assets.

ROCKWOOL insulation is designed to remain stable when exposed to burning hot flames, helping to maintain the building’s structure and buying valuable time for occupants to safely escape. ROCKWOOL insulation buys time! In the event of fire, our insulation can help slow the spread of flames and will not produce dangerous toxic smoke. ROCKWOOL insulation is fire-safe and will help to protect your building’s load-bearing structure, helping to protect lives and your investment.

As well as installing smoke detectors, smoke control devices, fire alarms and sprinkler systems in your public and industrial buildings, include ROCKWOOL insulation and build in the first step to effective fire protection.

Fire safe insulation

ROCKWOOL products act as an effective fire barrier in the following ways:

  • Between rooms and roof spaces, floors & ceilings.
  • A fire shield for structural steel members
  • A fireproof filling for hot industrial process areas, shafts and ducts

For every application, you can be sure ROCKWOOL insulation will never contribute to fire spread and flashover.
